I took Mark to the doctor today. He has some nasal congestion and some discharge from his eyes. I was told that Mark has his first cold. Since he is only 6 weeks old there isn't much that we can do but just let the cold run its course. There isn't much of a change in Mark's behavior except he slept a lot yesterday and got a bit more fussy then usual last night. We did get a new height and weight check while at the doctor's office. Mark is now 12 lbs and 22.5 inches long. He is a growing boy!

Mike is back home! Yeah! Yesterday Mark and I went to the mall and we bought him a new hat. Last night after Mike returned home we all went to Relay for Life and participated in the event for a couple of hours as part of the health department team. My co-workers were eager to see Mark again and were more then happy to take turns holding him. It was Mark's first philanthropic event, the money raised through Relay for Life goes to the American Cancer Society.

Mike is out of town, so Granny and Grandpa came over so that I could have a nap. Oh, the luxury of a nap! Mark is 6 weeks old now. He is making some new sounds, kicking and moving his arms, looking at objects and people, and smiling. He has big smiles when Granny and Grandpa come to visit.

Happy Father's Day!
Today was Mark's first time to church. I took Mark to see the choir and then Mark and I sat with Dad and Cindy through the service. Mike worked the sound in the sanctuary and he did a wonderful job. Mike is enjoying his First Father's Day as a DAD! As a special treat Grandpa Shelby and Granny Jan watched Mark so that Mike and I could go out to a movie and dinner. We went and saw the movie Cars and we both enjoyed it.

Dad and Cindy came for a visit. We enjoyed takeout from Abuelos and a relaxing evening talking and catching up. Mark enjoyed seeing two of his grandpas today. Grandpa Shelby and Granny Jan took care of Mark this afternoon.

Mark is growing. He enjoys swinging in his swing, looking at faces and objects, moving his hands and feet, taking walks in the stroller, taking baths, and keeping his parents up at night. The last couple of nights Mommy and Daddy haven't had much sleep. I think it's the growth spurt.

Today, Mark met his great-grandmother for the first time! It was also his 1 month birthday today! To celebrate, he was taken out on his first restaurant visit, to Stone Mill Barbeque. He did great, and didn't cause any commotion. We also took the opportunity to celebrate both Shelby's birthday, and a belated Mothers' Day.

Oreo decided to visit with Mark today. She was purring the entire time that she was around Mark.

Today Mark had another bath and he responded better to this one. He even seemed to enjoy it a little. We are still trying to get Mark to sleep more consistently during the night, but so far our little night owl seems fairly consistent at waking us at midnight and 4am. Mark continues to work on his head control and his eyes are starting to focus and follow objects.
