Oops!
Our Bradford Pear tree didn't fare too well in the ice storm. Most of the others in the neighborhood were damaged, too, so we're not alone. We don't know if the whole tree will have to go; there are still some good branches left.
And a second oops...
Someone backed into our brick mailbox then took off. We don't know who did it, but they broke out one of their tail lights in the process. I built this mailbox myself, so I know I could rebuild it, but who wants to do that in freezing rain conditions? We don't know yet whether we'll hire someone to fix it, or whether I'll just fix it myself eventually -- when it gets a little warmer outside.

A couple of years ago, we lost literally half of a Bradford pear tree with ice. Shelby decided to just see what would happen, rather than take it out. Now, it is as pretty as ever. Somehow, it kind of filled itself in. As for the mailbox -- at least, it looks like you can still get mail in it, which is a real plus. So sorry it all happened.
PS: If you decide to fix the mail box yourself, I know a young man who would just LOVE to be your helper ;-)
I'm so sorry about both incidents. If you take a piece of broken light to an accident reconstructionist/engineer, they might be able to tell you what year, make and model the vehicle was! Then you can drive around, looking for the culprit... :)
Ol' Stacie, the Nancy Drew reader. We knew all that reading would be worth something someday!! :) Glad to know you all are OK. We've been following the weather reports and have only heard Tulsa mentioned once. They keep focusing on Okla. City!! Stay warm...
